Elizaville 2024

The inaugural edition of Zero Art Fair took place on July 19th and 20th in Elizaville, New York as an official participant of Upstate Art Weekend 2024. The fair was a resounding success quickly placing nearly every available work with a new friend. We want to thank all the participating artists, visitors, funders, and sponsors who helped make the fair such a success. While it took nearly two years to bring Zero Art Fair to life, the event unfolded more quickly than we anticipated requiring only two days to get very close to zero works.

You can find all of the works included in the fair on the Artists page and the names of all the new collectors in our public ledger. These collectors are now stewards of the new works for a period of five years according to the terms of the contracts signed by both the “Artist” and the “Friend”. Each signatory has received a copy of their contract for their records and Zero Art Fair retains a copy in case either party needs a duplicate.

You can also find the full participant list and the special projects below.

Special Projects

Talk is Cheap

Talk is Cheap was a performance by artists Jennifer and Kevin McCoy in collaboration with The Seeing Place and the Performance and Interactive Media Artists at Brooklyn College. Visitors were able to check out radios during the run of the fair to listen to a live mix of music, ambient audio, and recordings of the Zero Art Fair community discussing the idea of value.

Beer and Badminton

While perusing and taking away amazing art at ZERO ART FAIR visitors were able to enjoy a beer and win art books by playing quick games of badminton with artists and friends at the opening reception. Beer and Badminton was produced by the amazing Maureen Sullivan/ Red Art Projects.

Cold Comfort by David Howe and Anita Cruz-Eberhard

These large floor pillows are covered with images from our Security Blankets series, where images of contemporary trauma confront the traditional softchildren’s security blanket, provoking a disturbing cross-sensory conflict. Soft CarBomb, Soft Drought, Soft Tornado, Soft Hazmat, Soft Border Guard for example. Made of super plush fleece, the resulting mural-sized cozy contradictions are meant to be touched as well as seen, conveying opposite visual and tactile messages that confound the positive and negative implications of the word “security.”

Cover size: 60×80 inches
Cover material: Dye-sublimation print on super-plush fleece
Pillow size: 66x15x45 inches
Pillow weight: 30-35 lbs
Pillow filling: Shredded foam

Lisa Levy’s Tote Bags

Inspired by her “Thoughts in My Head” text painting series, artist Lisa Levy silkscreened these fun, shiny bags during the pandemic and sold them at her favorite holiday markets.  The bags were available to visitors for free as part of Zero Art Fair and were a great take away from the event.
